Lucas Blalock likes to focus on 'misusing' Photoshop and turning it into his own. Photoshop is used to enhance images and to correct any impurities in the image that may not be wanted, instead of following through with this 'trend' Blalock uses the impurities to create his photographs. The use of repetition is extremely effective as it shows the viewers how you can create a piece of work from the same image multiple times. For example when he is recreating 'The Smoker' he uses the cigarette more than once which gives the image a weird radical modern look. From looking at his work I have learned o experiment more with Photoshop because like Blalock said it is like a replacement for the darkroom which could apply to me as well as him.

My aim was to create a similar image to the one of the left, which is called the 'Dispersion Effect'. A reason I wanted to create an image like this was because I was inspired by Michel Mapes work, which then motivated me to create an almost identical photo. I firstly opened Photoshop and explored the tools and different effects to see if I could recreate the image without any help. I came to the conclusion that I would need some type of help, instead of asking my subject teacher I browsed the web and found a video which explained in detail how to create the exact image to the left. The image below was a photo by Micheal Mapes that inspired me.

To create this image I used the same steps from my second response to experiment 3. Instead of using stars I used waves and blended it in photoshop by changing the layer from normal to overlay. If I was to improve this image I would change the background so it wouldn't look dull. I would either change the colour or add a background of my mine. What I like about this image is that it blends well and you can't blatantly see I have placed an image on top.
