Karl Blossfeldt
Karl Blossfeldt was born on June 13th 1865. He was a german sculptor, photographer, artist and a teacher that worked in Berlin. His close up photographs of living things and plants is what makes him well-known. Nature and the way plants grow is what inspired him as well as his father. In the opinion of the artist ', a plant never lapses into mere arid functionalism; it fashions and shapes, according to logic and suitability, and with its primeval force, compels everything to attain the highest artistic form.' His collection of photographs 'Urformen der Kunst' was published in 1929 following an exhibition of his work at Berlins Gallery Nierendorf.
